R is a free online software used to perform statistics and modeling. While the base package of R has many functions, the beauty of R as a statistical tool is the through the use of user-created add-ons, known as packages. Packages help to perform certain tasks or statistical tests. As of January 2014, there were approximately 5150 packages available for R! With this many packages, it is easy to get swamped and ignore or pass over really cool tools. While it is probably impossible for me to master, let alone use all 5150 packages, I will be randomly selecting packages, writing a bit about how they work and what they do, and what I think of them and their use to me. The goal of this project is to help me become more acquainted with statistics and programming.
